As the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation marks its fifth year of operation, I am especially pleased and thankful this holiday season as we look toward our future.
Mother Cabrini herself, I believe, would be proud to see the development and evolution of her namesake Foundation, particularly in how its grants have sought to address common issues that will positively impact underserved populations across New York State now and, hopefully, for generations to come.
Earlier this year, we reorganized our approach to grant making into five Program areas: Access to Healthcare, Basic Needs, Healthcare Workforce, Mental and Behavioral Health, and General Fund. This new focus supports our efforts to build a more holistic understanding of an approach to making progress and change—one that encompasses the outstanding works of the many organizations across our grant making portfolios.
Recently our Board approved year-end 2023 grants in each of these Program areas, and next month we will release our annual announcement detailing these initiatives, highlighting those that demonstrate how we might best address the issues they fund.
To “move the needle” on the enormous health and health-related challenges that we face in New York State today, we model ourselves after Mother Cabrini, who rolled up her sleeves to support the health and well-being of those who sought a new and improved life in New York at the turn of the 20th century.
This season, I invite you to subscribe to our website and follow us on social media channels such as Linkedin to learn more about our grants and the organizations they support.
May the Foundation, inspired by Mother Cabrini, continue to be a beacon of hope and light in service of those most in need.
