Brittany Christenson, executive director of AdkAction, used funds from a 2020 COVID-19 Emergency Grant to work with The Hub On The Hill (a nonprofit in Essex County) to bring hundreds of locally grown meals to families in need in the Adirondack mountains. The project did so well over the summer of 2020 that it is transitioning into an on-going endeavor, continuing to help at risk families through the pandemic.
AdkAction not only helped The Hub become a SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) vendor, but walked them through the NY State Food Stamp authorization, so they can offer farm fresh meals for purchase on their website. Proceeds go to their free delivery program.
